Day 31- Something is still missing
Posted by hubman38 on January 31, 2010
Saturday morning we drove to NY to visit family and meet my newborn nephew for the first time. Driving over the Throgs Neck Bridge from The Bronx to Queens, we get a pretty nice view of the NYC skyline, even when the sky is gray and dreary looking. I gave the camera to Veronica and told her to fire away, I’ll find something good to use! While technically this isn’t my picture of the day, I was doing 50 mph in traffic at the time, so I hope you’ll forgive me.
Growing up on Long Island, on a very clear day I could see the skyline from the top floor of my high school, it was a sight I grew accustomed to.
Eight+ years later, it still looks wrong without the World Trade Center dominating the view

I really like this shot. Not to get all artsy on ya, but it reminds me of the work of NY artist Leon Kroll. He was an impressionist / post impressionist from the 20s – 40s who was well known for NY cityscapes. Very nice.
