Blogger-Giving and Friday Fill-ins

Posted by hubman38 on November 27, 2009

Veronica and I have half-heartedly joked that maybe it would have been easiest to stay home and rather than prepare Thanksgiving dinner for 4, to invite some of our blogger friends and have a big old feast at our house.

(Veronica: I wasn’t joking.  I love to cook and entertain and I love Thanksgiving. )

On Twitter yesterday, it certainly seemed like some of you would welcome an alternative to celebrating Thanksgiving with your family.  And god knows that while I love Veronica’s family, if I could avoid the Boston-NY drive on a holiday weekend, that would be perfect!

Veronica: So Blogger-giving it is.  I am always willing to stay home and cook for Thanksgiving, but to me cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for two adults just never seemed like fun.  Having several blogger friends over to hang out, eat and drink WAY too much and have a group supervision of the little people, (or if someone brings an older tween, I will be happy to pay him or her off to keep order amongst the troops) would be incredible.

I would also be happy to skip the drive to NY for the following reasons:

1. The traffic and drive always annoys Hubman and makes him cranky.

2. The kids don’t always enjoy the drive and listening to the variety of ways they can ask “are we there yet?” gets annoying.

3. I am missing the Macy’s Day parade.  I love the parade.   I will also argue with anyone that while everyone should get the opportunity to see the parade live once in their lives in order to appreciate the scale of the balloons, it is one of the few live events that is actually better on television.

So here is the Top 9 Reasons to attend Blogger Giving at Hubman and Veronica’s

1. An awesome (adult only) group HNT of everyone’s butt’s.

2. A  lovely breakfast on Thursday with parade viewing.

3. A full Thanksgiving dinner (perhaps we can do it Italian style and even have ravioli)

4. Football!  Football!  Football!

5. Lots of Booze.

6. Veronica insisting that we all crash at whatever guests are staying at the Local Holiday Inn Express so we can swim off dinner in the pool.

7. On Friday, a road trip to Plymouth Rock to see the replica of the Mayflower and enjoy the history.

8. Lots of food, fun, and friendly conversation with people who do not know every button to push or any magical phrases to make you feel guilty.

9. For those who have kids, hopefully there will be tons of kids around so they will all play with each other and not bug the parents.  Then if the weather’s nice we can have the kiddy table outside!

Sound like fun?  Well in September we will be mentioning the idea again and any of our regular commenters/emailers/friends will be welcome to join us.

And…here we go!

1. Wait! Wait, don’t forget to pick up Darling Boy at the airport today! (He spent the week at my mom’s in Pittsburgh and is rejoining us today.)

2. One orgasm followed at once by another orgasm is delightful.

3. The trouble is I really want to take some pictures for a friend, but staying at Veronica’s aunts is not conducive to naughty picture taking.  Gotta get creative.

4. My own bed, my wonderful comfy bed, is many miles away.

5. With a faint pop I stood up and my creaky knees reminded me that I’m not as young as I used to be.

6. The sky today is shadowy and ominous.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to hanging out with my 7-months-pregnant sister and BIL at their new house, tomorrow my plans include driving back home to Boston and Sunday, I want to go for a run, watch football, and catch up on a ton of blog-reading!

Hope all who celebrate it had a Happy Thanksgiving!

I think this is a great idea and reason no 1 alone is good enough for me (wink).
